GU Short wheel base Nissan Patrol.

Image 1. Click to enlarge.	The Project begins.... The Plan: To build a short wheelbase Nissan Patrol .... When deciding on a vehicle type, Matt wanted something that would stand out from the crowd. After months of searching and eyeing the competition it was decided that the vehicle would be a GU short wheel base Patrol. The only problem, they aren't available in Australia. The solution: Matt imported his own! The decision was made to use the GU short wheel base as is is unique and likely to be the only one in Australia for quite some time. Also, the reliability factor is far greater than most other models.
Image 2. Click to enlarge.	I suppose its a start! Before work can begin in earnest, everything must be checked and tested. As you can see the vehicle has suffered quite a bit of panel damage although it only appears to be cosmetic. What started off life as a 2.8 litre turbo intercooled 5 speed manual, is going to receive a 4.5 litre quad cam Nissan V8. This will be sourced from an Infinity half cut which has also been imported from Japan.
Image 3. Click to enlarge.	Much easier to push around. The Patrol has now been fitted with diff's. The diff's have the desired ratio of 4.625. Front brakes are twin spot calipers giving more efficient braking and also the front c/v joints are significantly heavier than than those fitted to previous models.
Image 4. Click to enlarge.	It has to look the part! There's no point having the horsepower if you cant use it! Matt has decided to use 35" Mickey Thompson tires wrapped around a set of Centerline mags. This will give him that extra bit of ground clearance and help transfer the horsepower to the ground.
